It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a true Walkersville legend, Coach Dave Miller, who passed away on December 10, 2025.
Coach Miller defined an era of basketball excellence in Frederick County, creating an undeniable legacy through his passion, dedication, and championship results.
A Legendary Run at Walkersville High School:
As the head boys basketball coach at Walkersville High School from 1981 to 1993, Coach Miller led the Lions to unprecedented heights, compiling a phenomenal overall record of 224 wins and 73 losses.
During his 10-year tenure, the Walkersville Lions achieved:
• 🏆 Two Maryland State Championships in 1984 and 1986.
• 🥈 State Runner-Up finishes in 1982 and 1988.
• 👑 Six Regional Championships.
His success continued at the collegiate level, where he also led the Frederick Community College Cougars to national prominence. He was an inductee into both the Alvin G. Quinn Sports Hall of Fame and the Frederick Community College Hall of Fame.
Dave Miller was more than a coach; he was a mentor who instilled discipline, drive, and a winning spirit in countless young men. His impact on the court and in the lives of his former players will be felt for generations.
We extend our deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and the entire Frederick basketball community.
Rest in Peace, Coach Miller. Thank you for the memories, the championships, and the legacy.
