House maintenance lessons from the trenches of home ownership:
Let this be a reminder to have your dryer ducts cleaned and inspected.
Not only was our dryer vent not installed properly so it wasn't exiting to the exterior of the house... and the elbow pipes used created a back flow for condensation resulting in a water leak into a bedroom. It has both been cleaned, properly re-installed and fully repaired. But we were only alerted to this situation by our modern dryer that kept giving us the exact correct error code and refused to dry pending a fire hazard. Thankful for this error code on our dryer and our ability to prevent a much bigger problem left unseen behind walls by subpar builders. I always say to my clients that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, this is one of those situations that will go into my repertoire.
Hire responsibly and buy new build home only if you can get a pre-drywall inspection by a superior home inspection company like Fox Mountain Property Inspections.
