Fall is officially here. Time to enjoy the cooler weather, football, and family. This is also a great time to get your home ready for the colder temperatures. Here’s a couple of tips on how to prep your home for fall!
🍂 Clean Your Gutters & Spouts - Scoop out any and all leaves or gunk from your gutters, and make sure there is no blockage in your gutter spouts. You might have to do this several times over the course of the season!
🍂 Get Your Indoors Cozy-Proof - With the changing season comes changing temperatures; you’re going to want to optimize your home for staying warm. Draft-proof your windows, reverse the direction of your ceiling fans, and change the batteries in your smoke & carbon monoxide detectors to make your home the coziest it can be. You’ll also want to hire professionals to service your HVAC system and clean your chimney.
🍂 Winterize Your Faucets and Sprinkler Systems - You’re going to still be watering your yard during fall, but this is the time to be vigilant for the first freeze. Be ready at a moment’s notice to shut off exterior faucets, drain your hoses, and store them. It’s also a good idea to hire someone to winterize your sprinkler system!
🍂 Prepare for Ice! - And not just in your gutters and faucets, but on your driveway, sidewalks, and out and about on the roads. Stock up on calcium-based ice melts for your paved surfaces, and prepare a Winter Driving Kit for if you have to drive. If you anticipate using a snowblower this winter, scope out your yard now for any obstacles you’d want to avoid. Finally, make sure your snow shovels & other winter supplies are somewhere easily accessible.
