HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT MOBILE HOME MOVER.
Research
It’s important to do thorough research when looking for a mobile home mover. You want to look for a website, reviews, and make sure that your mover is licensed.
Plan ahead
If there’s a certain timeframe you want to get a mobile home moved, make sure you get in touch with your choice of mover ahead of time. Movers can be very busy and often time can have a limited schedule so it’s best to call ahead and get in their books.
Price
If you plan on moving a mobile home it’s imperative to set aside a budget because moving a mobile home can be very costly. For an example, let’s say you have a single-wide, moving a single-wide can range from $5,000 or move. That’s to move and set it up. Now let’s say you have a double-wide, a double wide is two single-wides put together so if it cost $5,000 minimum to move a single-wide a double-wide would cost anywhere from $10,000 or more. Yes, you read that right! Cost can add up quickly. You also have to factor in if you want it set up or simply just want it moved to the property. There’s a big difference. If you decide to hire a mover just to move it to your lot or land without setup that means they are only responsible for transporting the home from one location to another. Which means it could be more work for you. If you decide to pay for moving and set up that would mean that the moving company would not only move it to your property but they would also set it up to foundation if needed, anchoring the home, reconnecting utilities, and reinstalling skirting, porches, or decks if needed.
Watch out for mobile home mover scammers
In the mobile home industry there’s an influx of scammers out there who want to take your hard earned money. It’s important to be aware of who you’re giving your money to. If you don’t feel comfortable with a company, trust your gut and don’t work with them. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Refer to my first point about doing research. Don’t just pick any mover because they may be cheaper. Always check for reviews, watch out for signs of a sketchy mover like not answering phone calls, ghosting, not following through with inspection dates unless otherwise stated, asking for large deposits upfront, not coming out to inspect the home. The list can go on.
