Jesus is saying that He Himself is the entrance, to salvation, to relationship with God, and ultimately to eternal life. It connects closely with His words in John 14:6: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

He also spoke about a narrow door:

“Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able.” —Luke 13:24 (NKJV)
