One of the major reasons to join Vakos Real Estate Services was the opportunity to be involved in and continue to positively change the historic Spotsylvania Courthouse area through the rapidly growing Spotsylvania Courthouse Village.
Gardner family roots run incredibly deep at the Courthouse, whether it was the home dad grew up in directly across from the Courthouse itself, my dad’s office which is still there, the old Knight Spot restaurant run by my granny Vera, or even where my pop Harold built everyone’s favorite spot The Snack Shack, and the family farm my grandfather grew up in a couple miles away. Not to mention that my wife and I attended Spotsylvania Middle School, you guessed it, at the Courthouse.
The history isn’t just personal at the Courthouse. The Village sits directly across from protected battlegrounds where, for just one example, the hallowed and aptly named battle of Bloody Angle occurred, one of the more significant Civil War battles of all.
Part of my responsibility is to maintain and preserve character, integrity, and the story of this area. This snapshot shows just how beautiful the Village has already become, with a particular interest in maintaining that historic aesthetic locals identify with. And we are only getting started.
With architecture paying obvious homage to those colonial and civil war era roots in our County seat, I hope to work with the best and brightest locals, mixed with some companies we’ve all heard of too, to steward and protect this area as we build and transition it into the next 100 years of history.
Business owners have an opportunity to shape the history yet written and join the mixed-use town at the Spotsylvania Courthouse Village.
