Only weeks into tour season, and the Idea House has already welcomed visitors from well outside Fredericksburg — proof that a well-built home still draws people from everywhere. If you haven't made it out yet, tours run daily through December 20.
Starting tomorrow through the 20th, Volvo Car USA a is on site at the 2026 Southern Living Idea House with the new EX60 and EX90 — come take a test drive for free.

Landscape designer Melissa Gerstle Design shaped the grounds around the Idea House to feel like they'd always been there with native plantings, natural stone, and nothing that fights the land. Worth a slow walk when you tour.

Open for tours September 18 through December 20—Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m.

The house is open through December 20. The Volvos are only here for a minute.

The 2026 Southern Living Idea House is officially open for tours in Fredericksburg — and starting today, Volvo is on site with free test drives in the new EX60 and EX90.

So you can walk the house, then drive Hill Country roads in an EV that's barely hit the market. Test drives run during tour hours this week and next only. The house will still be here in November. The cars won't.
