It is always a great feeling to bring a deal to the finish line successfully.

I have to give some credit to Adam Stempin/ UMortgage & Lisa M. Jackson, Realtor - Samson Properties on this one. When we had a condo association issue they made quick pivots to keep this particular closing on schedule before I ever knew there was an issue.

When there are options on the table. Deal selection often comes down to who is on the other side of the deal - are they reliable? Do they have a good track record?

Over the last couple of years, I have searched for a good fit to work on commercial real estate deals with a little extra support and to ensure that I could pursue new opportunities with confidence. But finding the right fit has been tough. I landed at Berkshire Hathaway via an acquisition outside of my control, it’s been a great experience. And Kelly Walker the managing broker has been really amazing. So that has made any potential switch even more difficult.

But I believe strongly that if something is worth doing, it’s worth doing the right way. And when it came to commercial real estate I knew I wanted a little bit more assistance when deals got tricky.

After conversations with both companies, I am happy to announce that I now hold dual licenses. Residential deals via the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices franchise (PenFed Realty) and commercial deals through Vakos Real Estate Services. Something that is enabled by holding and maintaining an associate broker’s license at both firms.

It’s sort of a full circle moment because I started my career in 2013 when Bill Vakos owned a residential brokerage (which no longer exists). I’ve spent the last few months helping the Vakos with some residential transactions, but also working a development deal with the principal broker of Vakos Real Estate Services Jonathan Gardner.

It’s been a slow and well thought transition and I’m excited to be a part of that team!

All in all - nothing is really changing about my day-to day rhythms. This was about support, camaraderie and a strong partnership that I felt will work well for everyone well into the future.
