Fair market value (FMV) is the price an asset would sell for on the open market when a willing buyer and a willing seller agree on a price. There are multiple ways to calculate the FMV for real estate.

1. Hire a Real Estate Professional to run a Comparative Market Analysis (CMA) for you.
They'll find similar homes ("comps") in the same neighborhood that sold within the last 3-6 months. They'll research & compare their features, size and location to your home.

2. Determine the "Price Per Square Foot" of your property. Find comparable homes & divide their sale price by its square footage. Average those numbers together, then multiply by your home's square footage.

3. Hire a licensed appraiser to inspect the property and provide a valuation based on current local data.
