Hello to ALL tenants. This message may apply to some or all. Please read in full. Important winter weather information.
We are expected to have severe weather and well below freezing temperatures starting tomorrow and into the next week. Depending on where you live, there are several things to keep in mind. Please take the time to read this in full and adhere to what applies.
1. SNOW AND PARKING. If you park on the street, you must adhere to the city requirements which state that you need to park on the even side of the street on even numbered days and on the odd side of the street on odd numbered days. This is very important to help get your streets plowed properly. Please do your part.
2. PARKING LOTS: If you live in a complex and park in the lot, please do your best to all park in one area until an area is plowed and then move so the previously parked areas can be plowed.
3. PATIENCE: We have contracted snow removal providers. We are not their only clients. They do the best they can, given the circumstances. Be patient and realize that they will clear the snow to the best of their ability. They cannot control the weather. Also, please keep in mind that our snow removal services will return multiple times, as needed. If everything is not cleared the first go, have patience. They will be back. Again. we are not the only ones they are serving and they work a lot of hours to try to take care of all of our properties.
4. FREEZING TEMPS: We are going to experience below zero temperatures over the next week. It is important that you realize the importance of being prepared for this weather. Your furnace is likely NOT going to be able to keep up. Your furnace may NOT be able to keep up with the outdoor temps. Set your thermostat a few degrees higher than normal. It may run constantly and will most likely NOT keep up with the temperature you have it set at. This is normal during below zero temperatures. Please do not call for furnace issues unless you drop below 58 degrees for a consistent period of time.
5. FROZEN PIPES: For those at KIWANIS, you MUST keep your garage doors closed at ALL times. ALL TENANTS - open your cupboards that expose pipes so that they can get extra heat from your home (kitchen/bathroom sinks). Keep faucets at a slow drip. If you do not have experience with subzero temps, this is important. Please take these tips to heart. WE do have experience. Blow dryers may prove helpful during these times.
Please do not hesitate to contact me (text is best) if you have any questions, concerns or maintenances calls. Also, please do not EXPECT immediate service for furnace, snow/plowing, and freezing pipe calls. Our contractors have to consider the safety of their employees during these conditions, as well. We strive to provide service as quickly as possible, but please consider the elements. If everyone can please do their part, especially if you live in one of our multi-unit complexes (your neighbors will appreciate you), it will be greatly appreciated.
Stay warm.
