I used to think being a good realtor meant I had to convince my clients.

I wanted to explain everything, give my opinion, and prove that I knew the market. I thought that was how I showed my value and authority.

Now, I’m learning to do something different: hold back and listen more.

What does my client actually want? What are they worried about? What matters to them—not to me?

I can share my experience and give my professional opinion, but I don’t need to dominate the conversation or convince them to make the decision I think is right.

At first, listening more almost felt like I wasn’t doing enough.

Now I realize it’s not weakness.

Sometimes the more confident I become as a realtor, the less I feel the need to prove that I’m the expert.

My job is not to make the decision for my clients. It’s to listen, guide, and help them make a decision they feel confident about.
