We do not believe in perpetuating homelessness and addiction, and we believe that it takes more than shelter to help people move forward. We never give anyone anything they can get for themselves, but rather steer them in the right direction towards God-centered self-sustainability.

Last year, Fresno Mission served almost 1 MILLION meals to people right here in our community. But behind every meal is more than a number, there’s a person, a family, and a story worth hearing.

That’s what Conversations on a Bench is all about. Sitting down. Listening. Having the conversations our community can’t afford to ignore.

Last Saturday evening at Praise in the Park, our own Pablo Davalos shared a message about what it means to be the vessel.

Today, Pablo serves as Director of Program at Fresno Mission. But in 2010, he was on the other side of the Mission’s doors, walking through the very program he now helps lead.

His story is a powerful reminder that the person receiving hope today may be the person carrying that hope to someone else tomorrow.

Pablo challenged us not to define people by their past, their addiction, their homelessness, or their failures. God sees beyond where someone has been. He sees who He has called them to become.

“The treasure is extraordinary. The vessel is ordinary.”

For nearly two decades, Jim Taylor led Fresno Mission with the ability to see people's worth exactly when they couldn't see it themselves. As founder of the Mission's academy and a leader who invested in pastors and communities across Fresno, he built far more than programs...He built a place where broken stories could become new ones.

Even after retiring, Jim kept coming back to lead worship, to share his love of music, to stay close to the people and calling that shaped his life. His legacy isn't measured in years served, but in the lives he welcomed, believed in, and pointed toward hope.

We are grateful for Jim's life, his leadership and everything he poured into this community. 🕊️

Not every college student begins their journey from a place of stability.
For one of our recent high school graduates, the journey to college began while experiencing homelessness and living in our residential program for young adults.

Today, he’s moving into his dorm at Fresno State. ❤️🐾

This is more than move-in day. It’s a milestone and a powerful reminder that a young person’s circumstances do not define their potential.
Homelessness doesn’t have a face. Sometimes, it looks like a college freshman carrying boxes into a dorm room and getting ready for his first day at a university.

We are so proud of this young man and the next chapter he is beginning.
