Today’s a very special day. I’m very fortunate that you were called you to be my dad. 

When I was a little, I used to borderline hate you for forcing me to wake up early to mow lawns in 110 degree heat and the freezing Fresno winters. But as I got older I learned how lucky I was - that was a gift, not a curse ….You taught me to love what you do, even when it’s hard as sh*t. 

I hated it then, but now I get why and I’m eternally grateful 🙏-  they were the building blocks to instill the work ethic that I needed in order to get my Bachelors from UC Davis, and then to muster up the courage to go out on my own and start a property management company. 🏠

And then even when you would come home after work, you could have easily said “hijo perdon, estoy cansado”….and gone inside to relax/watch TV…and no one would have batted an eye at that because we knew how hard you worked that day. 

I have vivid memories of you getting out the work truck and immediately jumping in to pitch during a game of neighborhood street kickball. Core memories include going to the park on a Sunday afternoon in a van full of kids immediately after church  - my brothers, cousins, all bunched up in that ugly burnt Orange 1978 Volkswagen van, all because you said “si, amonos al parque, quien quiere ir?” 

 We never had a lot - but we never knew that to be the case. You’d take us to Little Cesar’s Pizza and that’s how we splurged. While we didn’t have a lot of money, I wouldn’t think twice to trade it for something else.  

Thank you for being the best dad, grandpa, boss, coach, teammate, best friend, I could ask for. Feliz Dia del Padre Apa. We love you!
