We know the news has been focused on sharing the residential impact of our powerful ocean, and it’s got your attention. But the reality is that the Outer Banks is spread over 100 miles — yet only ONE consolidated mile is experiencing the damage you’ve seen covered in the news. To cover the affected 1%, we have local cleanup crews working to make sure that all areas are safe, ready, and reopened for another beautiful summer season.
The news doesn’t show all of our resilient locals living full time on Hatteras Island. We’re here, and we’re focused on the people and places that make Hatteras Island home.
We’ll all be here. Fishing, surfing, soaking up the sun, and enjoying summer on the same beautiful beaches that we always have.
