SO YOU INHERITED YOUR PARENTS🏡
Did you know, Step up in basis is a tax rule that can significantly reduce capital-gains taxes when someone inherits a home.
Instead of using what the deceased owner originally paid for the property as the tax basis, the basis is generally adjusted to the home's fair market value at the owner's time of death.
This is why, when selling an inherited property, a date-of-death appraisal can be extremely important. It helps establish the property's fair market value when the owner died and supports the stepped-up basis and can save you a tremendous amount of money on your taxes.
✨I offer a complimentary no obligation fair market value appraisal to all my friends and clients in this situation. They then can share this information with thier tax advisor.
