Purchasing a home is one of the largest financial decisions you will make. Before you begin searching for your dream home, it is important to understand the true cost of homeownership and how to prepare financially.

Whether you are a first-time homebuyer, self-employed, or planning to purchase your next property, having a financial strategy can help you avoid unexpected expenses and make informed decisions.

5 FINANCIAL TIPS FOR MARYLAND HOMEBUYERS

💳 1. Know your credit and debt-to-income ratio. Your credit history, income, and existing debts can affect your mortgage eligibility, interest rate, and purchasing power.

💰 2. Understand your down payment options. You may qualify for assistance through the Maryland Mortgage Program. Certain programs offer eligible buyers help with down payments and closing costs, subject to income, credit, and other requirements.

🏦 3. Budget for more than your mortgage. Your monthly housing expenses may include property taxes, homeowners insurance, mortgage insurance, HOA fees, utilities, and maintenance.
