Horseshoe crab season is here, and it’s one of those things you don’t want to just scroll past and forget.

If you’ve never seen thousands of these ancient creatures gather along the shoreline, it’s worth the trip. The guided beach walks at Slaughter Beach on May 5 and 19 at 11 a.m. give you a chance to see them up close and actually understand why they matter to the ecosystem and even to us.

No registration, all ages welcome. Just show up at the Marvel Drive parking lot and be ready to walk a bit on the sand.

Another great reason people love living near the shore.

Upcoming Programs: Horseshoe Crab Beach Walk

Tuesdays May 5 and 19 at 11 a.m.

The horseshoe crabs are arriving! As thousands of crabs make their way onto our beaches in the upcoming weeks, we will hold special walks along Slaughter Beach to look for horseshoe crabs, get an up-close view at what makes them so special, and learn about their connections to the Delaware Bay, other animals, and even us humans!

To join in on these programs, meet us at the Marvel Drive parking lot (Marvel Drive, Slaughter Beach, DE). No registration is required, and all ages are welcome. Please be prepared to walk around a half mile on the sand and for the weather/elements.
