Gadsden's Season of Honor begins THIS Sunday! There will be four events during October and November and the first is the BamaRama500.
Tentative Schedule for Sunday:
1. Sunday, October 6th - Bama Rama500
a. 20 Navy Veteran bicyclists (plus 10 crew) are riding 500 miles through the entire state of Alabama to raise awareness for Veteran causes. They start in Huntsville, then spend the night in Scottsboro.
b. On Sunday, October 6th, they will arrive into Gadsden at approximately 3:30-4:00 pm from Noccalula Road, 12th & Forrest to Broad. The Etowah Roadies and the County and City police will be escorting them into town. The public is invited to wave and welcome them to Gadsden if they see them.
c. Gadsden Inn & Suites have provided a Veterans discount for rooms.
d. At approximately 5:30 pm, we have 2 shuttles to pick up from Gadsden Inn & Suites and take to Ola Lee Mize Patriots Park.
e. Speakers:
-Welcome Tina Morrison, discuss Patriots Trail (which lists 3 Etowah County noteworthy sites: Ola Lee Mize Patriots Park, Etowah Memorial Bridge and Glencoe War Memorial), Announce next 3 events
-Invocation and Welcome Rep Mark Gidley, AL House Military & Veterans Affairs Committee
-Craig Scott portraying Frank Towers
f. The public is invited to this event and will be given business size punch cards with each of the 4 events listed on there. Anyone who attends all 4 events and gets their punch card punched, will be eligible for a free 2 night stay.
g. Dinner will be provided free of charge to Bama Rama crew (and speakers) in the Princess Room. Sponsored and Catered by Olive Garden, Gadsden.
h. Shuttles take riders back to Gadsden Inn & Suites.
i. After a complimentary breakfast at Gadsden Inn & Suites, riders head to Oxford, Monday, October 7th approximately 9:30 am.
