BIG transportation news for Central Ohio!

A newly released study recommends an 18-mile highway connector between US-23 and I-71, with an estimated construction cost of $857 million to $1.2 billion.

The proposed route would connect US-23 north of Waldo to I-71 south of SR 521 and could save drivers an estimated 6 minutes in lighter traffic and up to 22 minutes during morning rush hour when traveling between the Columbus and Toledo areas.

But this is far from a done deal. Funding has not been approved, and state lawmakers would ultimately need to decide whether to move the project forward. The study's cost estimate assumes construction beginning in 2035.

Projects like this are always worth watching because major transportation investments can influence commuting patterns, development and growth throughout Central Ohio.

BIG NEWS FOR HILLIARD! 🍃

More green space is coming to Central Ohio! The City of Hilliard has announced plans to transfer approximately 333 acres of land to Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks, expanding the existing 44-acre Homestead Metro Park westward into the Big Darby Watershed.

The expansion is expected to eventually include new trails, restored prairies and wetlands, while connecting with existing paved trails and the Heritage Rail Trail. Metro Parks says the project will also push the amount of preserved land within the environmentally significant Big Darby Watershed to more than 10,000 acres. Development of the new parkland is expected to take a few years. 🌾🚲🥾

This is one of the things I love about watching Central Ohio grow—new development AND investments in outdoor spaces that residents can enjoy for generations.

🏡 And when you’re thinking about where to live, it’s not just about the house. Parks, trails, schools, restaurants, businesses and what’s happening within the community all contribute to the lifestyle.
