🏡 Home trends are fun… until you’re stuck explaining them to the next buyer. 😂
I came across an article about the design trends homeowners are most likely to regret, and as a Realtor, I have THOUGHTS. 👀
A few that made the list:
🚪 Barn doors
🖤 Matte black fixtures everywhere
🍽️ Open shelving (pretty… until you actually have to live with it!)
🤍 The all-white modern farmhouse look
🎨 Super-bold permanent finishes
✨ Going ALL-IN on one trendy style
🧱 High-maintenance specialty tile
The takeaway? Trendy is great for things that are easy to change. Pillows, paint, lighting, décor? Have fun!
But when you’re spending serious money on cabinets, tile, flooring and permanent fixtures, think about what will still look good 5–10 years from now — especially if resale is in your future.
As a Realtor, one of my favorite questions to answer is:
“Will this actually add value to my house?”
Because sometimes the best renovation isn’t the trendiest one. 😉
