The potential threat for landfall has been upgraded to a category three. Take this storm seriously. Gainesville is inland but will not be expempt from flooding, down trees and power outages. Stuck up if you choose to stay and evacuating to avoid those conditions isn’t a bad idea as well.

Could the struggling Airbnb market help provide some inventory for the housing market? Possibly. The hope filled promise of making extra income via short term rentals added extra stress to the housing market nationally. Most of those buyers financed the purchase of the property and if the income doesn’t sustain the financial obligation; a number of owners could possibly sell or at least convert to long term rentals providing more housing and hopefully drop rental rates.

Recent analysis shows Airbnb revenues in steep decline in some large U.S. markets. The consequences of such a decline could send shockwaves through the entire residential real estate market.

If you are in the middle of a real estate transaction or planning to be over the next 5 months you should be aware of THE BOX!
If a named storm enters THE BOX getting an insurance binder could be a problem and could potentially delay your deal closing. As of June 25th there are two named tropical storms/depressions in the waters to our south (Brent) and east (Cindy). Talk to your agents weekly to stay abreast of these conditions. I recommend you getting your policies squared away at least two weeks before closing.
