Congratulations to my Seller! 🎉🥂

🏠 PERMITS MATTER!

If a contractor tells you, “I can do the work for less if we don’t pull a permit,” I’d be suspicious. 🚩

Yes, a permit costs money, but compared to the cost of a renovation or major project, it’s usually a small fraction of the overall price — and it’s there to help protect you.

A permit means there is a third party looking at the work and making sure it meets the applicable building codes and requirements. That extra set of eyes can be incredibly valuable.

When a contractor doesn’t want to pull a permit, you have to ask yourself why? They may not want their work inspected, and that should definitely get your attention.

And here’s something to think about if you’re planning to sell your home someday…

🚩 Unpermitted work can be a red flag to buyers.
A buyer may wonder whether the work was done correctly, whether there are problems hidden behind the walls, and what it could mean for them down the road.
