Rambling thoughts of Some Ole Salty guy:
Rainy days and Wild horses.
You know sittin here watchin this rain come down it gives me time to ponder. Sometimes we need a little rain in life to help things grow. But sometimes it rains so hard and long it changes some of the landscape washing away things and new things come along creating an entire new look. Although, we are saddened to see things we enjoyed for so long come to pass.. we sometimes get to see the new growth take shape and give us joy just the same. Just as I have been watching 2 of my youngins have growing pain issues on some horses. Each of them have excelled in the rodeo world quickly out growing entry level game day horses. As we have been trying to out a few other horses for sometime now especially for one of them they just aren’t clicking. Going from winning and making progress down to “I don’t know what I’m doing wrong”. Sometimes as a horsemen you think your feedin right, makin sure they are well kept for, got all the right tack and it’s still not working. So you switch things up, switch feed , use try new techniques, buy different tack, ask others for help.. just to end up havin to sell the horse and get another one in hopes this is the one. Starting all over again wondering if you are ever going to be on top of the points, are ya going to be the one that folks are like wow.. those 2 are one heck of a team..look how effortless they make it look. Then there is the other child of mine, has a great lil horse always puttin him in the right place but he just wants something better, faster, flashier that will put in there with the big boys..With that comes the nervousness training a new lil spitfire that isn’t as forgiving as the other one. Sometimes things go great other days it’s like dang how’d I end up flat on my back in the dirt..Gives ya the doubt of heck maybe I should have just stayed with my solid in the money horse. Na, brush yourself off get back on there and try again. Life is full of rainy days and wild horses. You have to decide to dance in the rain and get back in the saddle..You can’t get better and come out with a win unless you both are willing to give a little and learn along the way. Great horses, Great horseman aren’t made overnight…Just like we need a little rain or stormy days to help things grow into something beautiful. ~ Some Ole Salty Guy
