CLARIFICATION FROM THE ARK ON LAKE LANIER
Following the recent Hall County proceedings involving the Ark and some of the public discussion surrounding them, a Facebook conversation developed involving our neighbor, Dennis White. That discussion became more personal than we would have liked, and we want to clear up one important point so there is no misunderstanding about our position.
We have never intended to accuse Dennis of targeting children, people with special needs, or anyone because of their age or disability. We do not believe that is what is happening. If anything we previously wrote was interpreted that way, we want to correct that misunderstanding clearly and unequivocally.
Our concerns arose from conduct we experienced and documented around the Ark and our property manager’s residence.
One of the people who lives at our property manager’s residence is an adult over the age of 21 who has special needs. That was the reason we referenced a special-needs person in our earlier comments. We were not suggesting that Dennis was targeting this person, or anyone else, because of their special needs.
To make our position completely clear, we retract the following statements from that Facebook discussion:
“…but when he stares at my property managers house and her special needs niece and videos constantly, it’s stalking and harassment.”
“Riding by for the purpose of intimidation and harassment is getting Dennis White off in a uniquely strange way.”
“A special needs child lives there and your dad is harassing and intimidating them. He should be ashamed.”
To the extent any of our other statements could be misinterpreted, we repudiate those statements. We have also deleted the Facebook discussion in its entirety.
We also recognize Dennis’s right, like every other neighbor, to travel on our public roads, disagree with the Ark, oppose our applications, put up signs, attend public meetings and express his opinions. This has never been about silencing opposition to the Ark.
Dennis was arrested on a stalking charge on July 1, 2026, and that charge was subsequently dismissed by the Magistrate Court of Hall County on August 10, 2026. We were not informed or otherwise made aware of the August 10 court hearing before it occurred and were not present at that hearing. We want the public record to be clear about all of these facts. An arrest does not establish guilt, and we are not suggesting otherwise.
We don’t want this disagreement to continue escalating, either online or in our neighborhood. We hope we can all respect one another’s privacy, property and right to peacefully enjoy our homes and move forward as neighbors.
The Ark was created to bring people together, and that’s where we would much rather put our energy.
