In real estate, I’ve seen people get discouraged because they feel behind. Maybe rates changed, prices changed, plans changed, or life simply didn’t happen on their timeline. But one thing I’ve learned is this:

As a realtor, one of the hardest parts of the job is managing clients’ expectations, especially in unpredictable market conditions.

For example, sellers may believe their home is worth more than the market is willing to pay, while buyers may hope for deals that don’t match current inventory or prices. Explaining the reality without crushing their hopes requires empathy, honesty, and strong communication skills.

Another tough part is the emotional side. Buying or selling a home is deeply personal. I often guide clients through major life changes such as divorce, death, or job relocations, and it takes patience and care to support them while keeping the transaction on track.

And finally, the “always-on” nature of the job. Nights, weekends, holidays — clients need you when it’s convenient for them. Balancing that with personal time can be a real challenge.

But even with all that, seeing someone get the keys to their first home or helping a family move forward makes it all worth it.
