My amazing weekend was spent focused on financial wellness at the Wine, Women & Wisdom Wealth Summit, presented by Old National Bank. This event was an incredible space for women to have real, naturally occurring conversations about wealth.

Some of my favorite highlights included:

Rita Mitchell of Studio Bank was a fabulous MC, keeping the day moving perfectly.

The fireside chat with Mignon Francois, Founder and CEO of The Cupcake Collection, was both revealing and spiritually uplifting. She is a true inspiration!

Amanda Weeks of 1834 Wealth Management (a division of Old National) delivered an interactive and highly informative breakout session on trusts, succession planning, and family wealth protection.

The content was so impactful that I already have a feeling I'll be building a long-term relationship with Old National after our upcoming lunch!

Thank you, Angela Crane Jones, President & CEO of the Nashville Business Incubation Center (NBIC), for putting together such an empowering day at the National Museum of African American Music. I’m already looking forward to the next one!

Metro Budget 101: Session 2 Recap – Housing & Education 🏠📚
I arrived early enough to take a selfie with the Power Panel for Session 2! It was incredibly tough to decide which breakout speaker to highlight because both Angie Hubbard and Matt Wiltshire have my heart when it comes to affordable housing and tackling this crisis with creative financial engines to promote Nashville and our surrounding community. I learn something new every time I hear them speak.

This was also my first time meeting April Calvin, and she did not disappoint. While every speaker could have kept me captivated all day, I was deeply intrigued by April and her commitment to providing avenues to assist the unhoused in Nashville. As the Director of the Office of Homeless Services, she manages coordinating efforts for the Nashville-Davidson Continuum of Care and provides vital leadership in collaboration with the Mayor and Metro Council to support our unhoused population.

My kids grew up in the Sumner County school system, so this was also my first introduction to Freda Player and Dr. Berthena Nabaa-McKinney. I learned so much about the Metro District budgets and allocations throughout the Metro School System, as well as the incredible growth and the amazing teachers working within the system.
Shoutout to Anton Jackson, Director of Mission Advancement, at Rebuild Nashville. Thank you, Councilwoman Toombs, for a fabulous Session 2 Panel!

A Huge Thank You to the Session 2 Guest Speakers:

Housing Investment Panel:
Angie Hubbard: Director – Housing Division.
April Calvin: Director – Office of Homeless Services.
Matt Wiltshire: President, Pathway Lending Housing Fund.

Education Investment Panel:
Freda Player: Chair, Metro School Board; District 7 School Board Member.
Dr. Berthena Nabaa-McKinney: Vice-Chair, Metro School Board; Chair, Budget and Finance Committee; District 4 School Board Member.

This was truly a Power Panel at Part 1 of the Metro Budget 101 Series hosted by District 2 Council Member Kyonzté Toombs! She did a great job putting together an informative panel that really helped demystify the city’s $3.8 billion operating budget and how the Metro Council amends it to reflect our city’s priorities. For me, the breakout speaker of the day was Vivian M. Wilhoite, the Assessor of Property. She is a ray of energetic sunshine encompassed in one person! I definitely won’t forget “Value Vivian.” She gave an excellent overview of the property assessment process, how her office operates, and the importance of valuing your property. She even fielded questions on the impact of commercial properties. Panel Speakers included: Finance Director, Jeneen Reed, Deputy Finance Director, Kevin Brown and District 19 Council Member Jacob Kupin.
Since this session was held at the Nashville Public Library, I stopped at the Seed Exchange and checked out some yellow squash and carrots for planting. If you want to be more well-versed in Metro's finances, I highly recommend attending the rest of this 4-part series! Here are the upcoming sessions:

I hope all is well. Just a little Tuesday humor. I asked Gemini " Using everything you know about me, create a caricature of my daily job". Why did this thing give me 6 arms 😂😂😂

It was a fantastic day on the green with the Urban League of Middle Tennessee (ULMT) at the 2025 Sam Howard Golf Tournament!

I was honored to represent one of the sponsor teams, Urban Campus and Core (UCC), and take part in this annual celebration of community, leadership, and legacy. From the well-organized event to the great company, it was a truly memorable experience.

And yes — having my own golf cart was a bonus. It meant narrowly escaping Jennifer Horne's legendary golf cart navigation skills first-hand. (But you didn’t hear that from me!)

A huge thank you to ULMT----especially the staff, volunteers, and President & CEO Clifton Harris---for hosting such an impactful tournament.

I spent an exciting few days at the 2025 Urban Land Institute (ULI) Spring Meeting in Denver!

From May 12–14, I gathered with more than 5,000 real estate professionals - including developers, architects, investors, planners, and visionaries - at the Colorado Convention Center. Overall, it was a reminder that real estate isn’t just about buildings. It is about community, sustainability, equity, and collaboration.

One of the best parts of were connections made between sessions.

---The Lounge, hosted by Sonia Huntley, Senior Vice President - ULI Americas, was a space designed for community. Whether meeting someone new or reconnecting with former colleagues, the Lounge was a welcoming place for engagement and community building throughout the event.

---I am also grateful to have been part of the Denver Sun Valley & Montbello FreshLo Hub tour, which was an unforgettable experience led by Natasha D. Powell - ULI’s Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. This exclusive Pathways to Inclusion event took us into the heart of Denver’s community-driven transformation, where equity, culture, and economic opportunity are at the center of real estate development.

I am grateful to everyone involved—ULI, speakers, fellow attendees, and everyone who joined me on tours and meetups.

Let’s keep the momentum going!

Back in April, I attended the Tennessee Housing Conference, and I am still amazed at the insightful discussions and valuable connections. It was really fantastic to be part of the largest gathering of affordable housing professionals in Tennessee.

The agenda was packed with crucial topics, offering a deep dive into the current landscape and future of affordable housing in our state.

Some highlights included:

-An engaging TN Affordable Housing Coalition board meeting and an inspiring TN Affordable Housing Coalition meeting and awards

-A comprehensive overview of The State of the State: Housing Availability and Access Across Tennessee

-Critical strategies for safeguarding and expanding housing opportunities for low income and vulnerable populations

We also enjoyed an encouraging speech from Ralph Perrey, Tennessee Housing Development Agency (THDA) Executive Director, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration for the future of affordable housing in Tennessee.

I’m already looking forward to the next Tennessee Housing Conference and the continued opportunity to exchange ideas, share best practices, and collaborate with leaders dedicated to housing and community development throughout the state.

I am incredibly proud to highlight The Station in Gallatin, TN, which was recognized as a nominee for the prestigious ULI Nashville Excellence Awards!

This recognition is a testament to the project's innovative design and unique contribution to our community. Once a historic bow-truss building and the former turnaround point for an electric streetcar, The Station has been thoughtfully reimagined into the new home of the Gallatin Area Chamber of Commerce. The intentional blend of preserving history along with forward-thinking development truly make it shine.

A huge congratulations to everyone who contributed to making The Station such a remarkable community asset, especially Clay Haynes for his collaboration with the Gallatin Area Chamber of Commerce.

Being acknowledged by ULI Nashville underscores the vision and hard work that brought this exceptional project to life.
