I've been so busy, I didn't take time to acknowledge a huge milestone. NoBox Development celebrated 5 years in business on July 19th. I'm incredibly humbled and thankful for all of you and for my Clients/Partners along the way. Thank you, thank you, thank you! It's been a challenging, yet rewarding, five years! (The below picture was taken the week I launched the company.)

We’re getting close on the new Sumner County Courthouse! For the first time in years, all of the Courts will be under one roof, and the building is designed to keep it that way for decades to come…

We're moving forward on The Station at 117 W. Main in Gallatin. I'm excited to be working on another one with Public Square. Under those blankets are some beautiful, site-cast concrete shear walls. When the weather turns colder, it doesn't prevent concrete from being poured, but one has to take the proper precautions to ensure proper curing. Gallatin Tennessee Chamber of Commerce

We're getting there...can you see it?

When Projects face unforeseen and atypical challenges, the quality of the individuals on the Project Team and the relationships built comes to the forefront. NoBox is thankful for a great team on this Project who has bought into what I truly believe to be a key ingredient to success - "Lead with Solutions."

Today marks another year in business for NoBox Development! I'm extremely thankful and blessed by the Clients and Partners I've had across the past 12 months: Sumner County, Public Square, WhiteRock Real Estate, Rock Hills Church, and Summit Park Church. Since founding NoBox, I've been able to work on Commercial, Adaptive Reuse, Performance/Production Studio, Government, Multi-Family, and Faith-based Projects.

The three foundational statements I launched the company with still apply to everything NoBox does:

1. Lead with solutions.
2. There is no Box.
3. Focus forward.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, for trusting and engaging with NoBox Development.

Excited to get started on this Adaptive Reuse Project in the heart of Historic Downtown Gallatin. There aren’t many bow-truss buildings like this one left to develop in the Nashville Area. Thankful for my continued work with Public Square giving new life to old buildings…

I was in Downtown Nashville for a Tennessee Titans Event last weekend. Being Downtown always reminds me to "look up"; in fact, I used to post a lot on Social Media with the hashtag, . This view struck me in different ways.

From an Architecture and Development standpoint, I was struck by the difference in Architectural Design - one having a Traditional aesthetic rooted in historic detailing, the other having a Modern aesthetic of glass and steel.

The Traditional Schermerhorn Symphony Center is lower to the ground with heavy masses and forms. The Modern Pinnacle Building soars to the clouds with detailing that feels light. The Schermerhorn has deep, dark shadowlines, while the Pinnacle is bright and almost sparkles in the sun. One is opaque; one is transparent. One's colors are earth-toned, the other sky. These buildings couldn't be more different, yet they coexist beautifully in the urban setting.

As I stood there looking at these two buildings, I realized it's that conversation between the two that actually calls attention to and enhances the beauty of each. It was the contrast between the shadow on one and the sparkle of the other that caused me to notice and pay attention. They couldn't be more different, yet they somehow celebrate their differences if we will just take the time to notice.

Thankful for the opportunity to work with Finkle + Williams Architecture and BHS Construction serving Rock Hills Church in Manhattan, KS. The addition of the paneled screen-wall above the Main Entry to the Adaptive Reuse of a former Theater building enhances the aesthetic and provides a fresh and welcoming vibe where the old marquee once stood. One of the things I love to do is provide new life to old buildings, and that is exactly what Rock Hills is doing through the redemption of this structure.
