Don’t sleep on Goodwill!

Finished showing properties this Sunday afternoon and made a quick stop at Goodwill. Of course, I found myself in the book section!

But as I looked through these books, I couldn’t help but wonder if they all belonged to the same person.

Who were they? What was their story? Were they an entrepreneur, a mentor, someone who spent their life helping others succeed? What dreams did they chase, and how many lives did they impact along the way?

Maybe it’s just me, but I love thinking about things like this. Everyone has a story, and there’s so much we can learn from those who came before us.

After 20+ years in real estate, I still have so much I want to learn and accomplish. I hope I never lose that curiosity or desire to grow.

Pretty cool to think that the books that once inspired someone else might now inspire the next chapter of my journey. 🤎

Another set of keys handed over right here in Galt. 🔑🏡

But here’s something you may not know about me…

My experience with new construction starts long before the model homes open.

It starts with the land.

I work on development projects through the entitlement process—working with CEQA, planning, local municipalities, infrastructure and approvals—and I get to see firsthand what it takes to move a project from dirt to development.

So when I represent a buyer purchasing new construction, I’m looking at it through a much bigger lens.

I know Galt.
I know the land.
I understand development.
And I know how to help my clients navigate the process all the way to the best part… handing them the keys. 🔑

I also believe good real estate is collaborative. I enjoy working alongside builders and their sales teams with one shared goal: creating a great experience and outcome for the people we serve.

Friendly reminder: He is good. All the time. 🤍

Sometimes the reminder shows up in the smallest places, right when you need it.

Life can be heavy. Days can be messy. Things don’t always make sense, and sometimes we’re carrying things nobody else knows about.

But there is still so much good. So much to be grateful for. And always something to have faith in.

Sometimes the best marketing isn’t the polished stuff.

As agents, we can get so caught up in perfect.

The perfect brand.
The perfect logo.
The perfect signs.
The perfect open house.

But this one? This one meant more.

Our seller’s son, Memphis, wanted to be part of the open house. He bought poster board, messaged me for ideas, asked which dirty soda sign I liked better, and then created his own open house sign for his family’s home.

And you better believe we displayed it loud and proud.

Because behind every listing is a family going through a transition. The adults feel it. The kids feel it. Everyone has a little piece of the story.

And sometimes letting them be part of the process matters more than making everything look perfectly branded.

Memphis put time, thought and excitement into this—and that’s something no professionally printed sign could replace.

Also, his line…

“Come for the open house, stay because you’re already picturing where your couch would go.”

Not bad, Memphis. Not bad at all. 😂

Real estate is about homes, but it’s really about people.

That’s the part I never want to lose.

Me, casually heading to a vacant house to meet a complete stranger I’ve never met before. 😅

Because apparently in real estate we call that a showing.

It’s funny… until it isn’t.

I’ve been doing this a long time, and I actually have a story about a showing that changed the way I think about Realtor safety. One day I’ll tell you the whole thing because trust me—it’s a good one.

But here’s your reminder, especially to my fellow agents:

Know who you’re meeting.
Tell someone where you’re going.
Share your location.
Trust your gut.
And if something feels off, LEAVE.

No commission, client, showing, or deal is worth putting yourself in a situation that doesn’t feel safe.

We spend so much time taking care of our clients that sometimes we forget to take care of ourselves.

Be smart. Be aware. And please, be safe out there, Realtors. 🤍
