Together with her broker she also opened a home called Judy's House. Judy's House is named after Cynthia's late mother and provides housing for women in addiction recovery.

When you really look at Lydia’s story in Acts 16, there’s so much there for women building businesses today.

She was a successful businesswoman, but her success wasn’t separate from her faith. She built, she led, she opened her home, and she stayed surrendered to God through it all.

Here are 5 things I think we can learn from her:

1. Purpose before performance
Lydia sought God before making decisions. Her direction came from being aligned with Him, not from letting anxiety call the shots.

2. Excellence doesn’t require exhaustion
Purple dye was rare and expensive to produce, so Lydia clearly knew the value of doing something well. She built with excellence without making exhaustion the price of success.

3. Hospitality over hustle
She opened her home to leaders and disciples. Her generosity became part of her story, reminding us that business can create opportunities to serve people, too.

4. Steady, not striving
Lydia was a businesswoman who knew how to move forward while still trusting God with the outcome. You can lead, make decisions, and build something meaningful without needing to control every detail.

5. Faith sustains what strategy can’t
Business vision matters. Strategy matters. But there will always be seasons where you can’t plan your way through everything. Lydia’s faith gave her steadiness when she couldn’t manage the outcome herself.

If you’re a woman of faith building something of your own, I think Lydia’s story is one worth coming back to. You can build with ambition and still stay surrendered while you do it. 💖💕
