As the birthplace of Juneteenth, Galveston holds a special place in history. On June 19, 1865, the news of emancipation reached Texas, marking a pivotal moment of freedom and hope that continues to be celebrated today.

In observance of this important holiday, our office will be closed on Friday, June 19. We encourage everyone to take time to reflect, celebrate, and honor the significance of this day.

Juneteenth Music Festival & Fireworks is at Menard Park on Friday, June 19, from 1:00 to 10:00 PM. Music and fireworks run through the afternoon and evening on Galveston Island.
