📶 Insider's Guide: Internet in Southern Humboldt : what buyers should know
One of the first questions we hear from people looking to move to Southern Humboldt is some version of "can I actually get online out there?" Fair question in a rural area — and the honest answer is: it depends on the address, but there are real options.

101 Netlink is one of the main local providers, offering fixed wireless internet with speeds up to 100 Mbps across a lot of Garberville, Redway, and the surrounding area a solid choice. 707 923 4000.

Starlink has been a game-changer for the harder-to-reach parcels up in the hills, off the main corridor, wherever fixed wireless doesn't reach. If you can see the sky, you can usually get online.

AT&T offers DSL in parts of town, and cell-based home internet (Verizon, T-Mobile) is worth checking too, especially closer to Garberville and Redway where signal is stronger.

For the most remote parcels, HughesNet or Viasat satellite can serve as a backup or last resort, though speeds and latency won't match Starlink or fixed wireless.

Coverage and speed vary a lot from one parcel to the next, so if reliable internet is a must for remote work, it's worth checking availability at a specific address before you fall in love with a property. It's one of those details that doesn't show up in listing photos but matters a lot day to day and it's exactly the kind of thing we help buyers sort out early in the search.
