Would Y'all Consider The Texan a true alternative to Buccees?

A BUC-EE’S ALTERNATIVE MAY BE COMING TO KERRVILLE 👀

Kerrville could soon have a new road trip stop at I-10 and Highway 16. The city’s Planning and Zoning Commission has unanimously approved permits for The Texan, a Texas-based convenience store, gas station, and truck stop that has earned plenty of comparisons to Buc-ee’s.

Founded in Yorktown in 2008, The Texan offers many of the things Texans love about a big highway stop: lots of fuel pumps, clean restrooms, breakfast tacos, fried chicken, pizza, kolaches, fresh-made food, a bakery, coffee, huge fountain drinks, Texas snacks and plenty of branded merchandise. One major difference from Buc-ee’s? The Texan welcomes 18-wheelers, with dedicated truck parking and diesel pumps.

The proposed Kerrville location would sit on 12.57 acres at the northeast corner of Highway 16 and I-10. The developer told commissioners the project has actually been about five years in the making and could represent a $7 million to $10 million development once completed.

There are still steps to go before it becomes official. Planning and Zoning’s approval now heads to Kerrville City Council for final approval of the conditional use permits.

But if everything moves forward, Kerrville may soon have its own answer to Buc-ee’s. 🤠
