You have an emergency and call 911, but the dispatcher is asking you a lot of questions before help is on the way. Why?

We know it can feel frustrating answering questions when you are experiencing an emergency. The person handling your call is a trained professional who must ask specific questions to send help, while also ensuring both your safety and the safety of first responders. Here is what really happens when you dial 911:

Our dispatchers use a nationally recognized system called ProQA for Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) and Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD). When you describe your situation to the dispatcher, this system will be used to determine the nature of your call and what kind of help you may need. As soon as critical information is received, help is already on the way. The dispatcher will continue to ask you questions while units are responding.

Answering the dispatcher’s questions helps them provide critical pre-arrival instructions that can make a difference before responders arrive. Our dispatchers are certified through the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED), providing evidence-based protocols to guide you with the right instructions during an emergency.

We know emergencies are stressful, but every question serves a purpose. Your safety is our first priority!

Creating a great first impression doesn't have to be difficult or expensive. Look for a few thoughtful items that will highlight your home's best features.
✨Paint or touch up walls, think fresh neutral colors.
✨Test bulbs and replace outdated light fixtures.
✨Replace worn countertops.
✨Update cabinet hardware and paint or stain as needed.
✨Text and fix any safety items such as smoke detectors.

Not sure where to start your remodeling projects? Before you look at budgets, think about your timeline. Not all projects equal a 1 to 1 increase in home value.

Are you feeling like your home needs a refresh? If so, the projects you choose may be dependent on whether you plan to live in your home for several years or sell in the near future. Not all remodeling projects increase your home value by the amount of the expenditure.

If you plan to sell your home:

- A new steel front door adds curb appeal and has an estimated 100% cost recovery.
- Renovating a closet has a potential 83% cost recovery.
- While a new kitchen only comes in at about 60% cost recovery.

If you plan to live in your home for years to come, bigger projects (kitchens, bathrooms, primary suites) that you will enjoy long term may make more sense.

If you own a home, land, dock or boat slip on Beaver Lake, it’s worth being familiar with the rules governing Corps managed shoreline. The "Beaver Lake Shoreline Management Plan" and "Master Plan" cover everything from docks and shoreline access to vegetation, paths, steps and improvements on Corps land.

Lunch date today at Nosh NOLA in Springdale. Our first time to eat here, and we will definitely be back. The food and service were both exceptional (thank you Kate!). We shared a salad and Totchos and made sure we saved room for the Bananas Foster Cheesecake. So good!
