Please join us in welcoming Lauren Tompkins as the newest Artist in Residence with American Landmark at The ReVe.
A Dallas-based artist, photographer, and art preservation professional, Lauren studies landscapes over time, often returning to the same places again and again to document subtle changes shaped by climate, memory, human impact, and the natural world.
Her layered works move between photography, painting, and object. Using translucent Mylar, iridescent materials, light, and shadow, Lauren creates pieces that shift with the viewer’s perspective and invite a closer look.
Her background in art conservation and restoration adds another layer to her work. Through her professional practice in the Dallas Design District, she helps collectors, designers, and institutions care for artwork, bringing a deep understanding of materials, preservation, and the quiet ways objects and environments change over time.
Lauren also brings strong experience in community-centered art. She has taught elementary art, led public workshops, contributed to mural projects, and created accessible spaces for artists and participants to test ideas, make work, and feel part of the creative process.
At The ReVe, Lauren will turn one of the community’s garages into her studio, creating a distinctive setting for residents to visit, gather, and take part in creative programming. Her work as a conservator is about making things last, and that thinking will shape the environmental side of her programming at The ReVe, through nature-centered workshops and observation walks.
Her work has been featured through commissioned and public-facing work with organizations and collectors including TIAA, Saatchi Art, Sotheby’s International Realty, Art + Artisans, and private collections.
We cannot wait for residents to experience Lauren’s thoughtful approach to art, connection, and the landscapes around us.
