📉 Did the Fall Real Estate Market Start Early This Year?

Typically, we see Under Contract sales peak during the summer before beginning their seasonal decline as we head into the Fall and Winter markets.

This year looks different.

Our Under Contract sales peaked in March and have been trending downward when we would normally expect to see that summer increase.

Higher interest rates and continued economic uncertainty have contributed to the slowdown. Since the U.S.-Iran war began on February 28, we’ve also seen consumers become even more cautious about making major financial decisions.

At the same time, Triangle-area inventory is at a level we haven’t seen in more than 10 years. As we move into Fall and Winter, we expect new inventory to begin slowing as it typically does this time of year.

With gas and diesel prices remaining high and consumer wages struggling to keep pace with inflation, many buyers are taking a wait-and-see approach.

🏡 So, did the Fall market start earlier this year?

The numbers certainly suggest that our seasonal slowdown began earlier than we typically see.

The market is changing, but opportunities are still out there for buyers and sellers.
