Subject: Ongoing Utility Restoration and Emergency Support
Otsego County Emergency Management continues to monitor and coordinate recovery efforts in response to the recent ice storm.
Utility crews are working tirelessly around the clock, bringing in additional personnel and resources to restore power across the county. Crews are working 24 hours a day to clear downed lines and restore electrical service to residents. We appreciate your patience as we continue to make progress in restoring power to all affected areas.
Emergency Management is also actively monitoring the 211 service for requests and needs. If you are in a situation where you require assistance, we strongly encourage you to use the 211 service to communicate with Emergency Management so we can prioritize and dispatch resources to you as quickly as possible.
As always, if you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please dial 911 immediately. Otsego County Emergency Management continues to work diligently to support residents affected by the ice storm. We are actively securing additional resources, including food and water, to help meet the needs of our community. While supplies are currently limited, we are expecting additional shipments soon. We will provide updated information regarding pickup locations and times in the near future, so please stay tuned for further details.
We are pleased to report that power restoration efforts in the City of Ga***rd are progressing. As power continues to come back online, more businesses are being able to open, which will help provide essential services to the public. This marks an important step forward in the recovery process.
Subject: Stay Safe – Avoid Downed Power Lines
As power restoration efforts continue across Otsego County, Emergency Management would like to remind all residents to stay away from downed power lines. While power is being restored, downed lines may still be live, and as lines become reenergized, they can pose a significant risk.
If you encounter a downed power line that is sparking or on fire, please call 911 immediately. Your safety is our top priority, and emergency responders are equipped to handle these situations.
Please remain vigilant and exercise caution as utility crews continue to restore power to affected areas.
Subject: New Warming Shelter Available at the Sportsplex
In an ongoing effort to keep our citizens informed and supported during the recovery from the recent ice storm, Otsego County is announcing the opening of an additional warming shelter.
Effective today, the Sportsplex will be available to the public as a warming station. Citizens are invited to come in, warm up, charge their devices, and take advantage of shower facilities. The Sportsplex also has the ability to fill water jugs/containers. Please note that while the Sportsplex will be open to provide these services, it will not be open 24 hours a day.
The warming shelter will remain in operation for the duration of the recovery efforts as we continue to support our community.

Subject: Cellular Service Update – Limited Connectivity Due to Fiber Damage
Otsego County Emergency Management would like to remind the public that cellular service remains spotty in some areas. This is due to the fiber infrastructure being down, which is affecting cellular towers and connectivity. If you are experiencing limited service, it is because the fiber lines that support cellular communication are currently non-functional.
We want to assure the community that all fiber companies are aware of the issue and are working diligently to restore full cellular service to the area. Please be patient as restoration efforts continue.
