Rental Scam Alert – Please Read!
Unfortunately, it's happening again. We're seeing fraudulent rental listings being advertised on TikTok, and this appears to be a widespread issue affecting properties listed through the MLS and other public real estate platforms.
These scammers are targeting people searching for rentals by collecting an $80 application fee. What looks like a legitimate rental application is actually a scheme to steal your money and your personal information. Victims may unknowingly provide sensitive details such as:
• Driver's license information
• Social Security number
• Bank account information
• Other personal identifying information
Please protect yourself and your loved ones.
If you're looking for a rental and aren't sure whether a listing is legitimate, contact our office before submitting an application or providing any personal information. We're happy to help verify the property at no cost.
If you come across one of these fraudulent rental ads on TikTok, please report it immediately. We have been in contact with TikTok and are actively working to have these fake listings removed, but community reports help bring them down faster.
