When you don't have proper drainage around your home, water will collect around your foundation. As this happens, that water will begin to search for small cracks and will eventually find a way into your home. Even if your foundation does not have any weak spots through which the water can enter your home, moisture buildup can still pose a serious threat to your foundation. So while you are planning your next landscaping project, here's a few things to consider.

- Underground downspout extentions that move roof runoff away from foundation

- Installing French drain system around perimeter of house

-Adding spoil around foundation to make sure you have proper slope away from house. (1 inch of fall per foot away from house)

Spring is just around the corner. While everyone is excited to be outside and enjoying the weather, don't forget this is the perfect time to get ahead on general home maintenance items. Including:

- Change your HVAC filters and getting system checked/cleaned

- Replace smoke detector batteries. This is also the perfect time to check the expiration dates. Smoke detectors are only good for 10yrs. So check the manufactured date stamped on the back of each detector and replace as needed.

- Spring time is considered the "slow months" for most chimney/fireplace companies. That means it's the perfect time to have your chimney/flue/fireplace inspected. You'll be ahead of the game come winter.

Check out the article below for more spring home maintenance tips.

As winter ends, warm up to the season with our spring home maintenance checklist. Spring is the time of year to assess any winter damage on your home.

For everyone with heat pumps, freezing rain and ice can severely damage your systems. For precautionary measures I recommend that you use the emergency heat settings on your thermostats until all the ice is gone. The word “Emergency” scares most people, but all it means is that you will be running your electric backup heat or gas backup heat. This will prevent your heat pumps from running and potentially save on costly repair bills. Yes, ice will damage heat pumps. Once the condenser coil is covered with ice, the unit can no longer transfer heat, and more importantly, ice buildup on fan blades will destroy motors, blades, and condenser coils. All of which are costly 💰. We hope everyone stays safe. Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions. 270-734-1897, or message me through messenger. I’ll get back with you as soon as I can. Thank you.
