Here in Texas, a pool can be a huge lifestyle feature, especially during those long, hot summers. An in-ground pool may add value and help a home stand out when it is well-maintained, fits the backyard, and still leaves usable outdoor space. An above-ground pool may not add the same appraised value, but it can still be a great selling feature when it creates a fun, functional backyard setup for buyers who want that summer-at-home feel.

Summer is a great time to teach responsibility at home! ☀️
Giving kids age-appropriate chores helps build confidence, independence, and a strong work ethic — while also teaching them that everyone plays a part in keeping the household running.

Ages 3–5:
Pick up toys, put clothes in the hamper, help feed pets, wipe small spills, match socks.

Ages 6–8:
Make their bed, set the table, water plants, help unload groceries, sweep small areas.

Ages 9–12:
Load/unload the dishwasher, fold laundry, take out trash, help prepare simple meals, clean their room.

Ages 13+:
Mow the lawn, wash the car, cook a meal, babysit younger siblings, help with deeper cleaning, manage their own laundry.

Summer chores do not have to be punishment — they can be a great way to help kids learn life skills, teamwork, and pride in helping their family.
