Random things no one prepares you for when moving from California to Texas â¨
Your nervous system calms down a little.
Like⌠genuinely. đ
You stop spending two hours in traffic just to get to a dinner reservation that was âmid.â
You realize having a guest room is actually life changing when family visits.
You finally have enough kitchen storage for the air fryer, blender, AND emotional support Stanley cups.
You start saying things like âshould we build a pool?â which wouldâve sounded absolutely unhinged back in California.
Your dog suddenly has a backyard and a personality.
Your kids play outside more.
You stop fighting for parking everywhere you go.
And somehow your new normal includes neighborhood events, pickleball courts, walking trails, and homes in Georgetown Texas or Leander Texas that wouldâve cost 3 million dollars where you came from. đľâđŤ
Also nobody prepares you for how aggressively people in the north Austin suburbs romanticize HEB.
At first you laugh.
Then suddenly youâre emotionally attached to a grocery store too.
If youâre relocating from California and moving to Austin, I need you to know this:
most people moving here THINK they want downtown Austin⌠until they see what life actually looks like in the north Austin suburbs. â¨
More space.
Better value.
Beautiful new construction.
Designer kitchens.
Actual community.
A slower pace without feeling boring.
And honestly? That version of Texas just hits different.
DM me âMOVEâ if you want my guide to moving to Austin, Georgetown Texas, Leander Texas, Liberty Hill, and the best north Austin suburbs for relocators đ¤
