FIVE MINIMUM WAGES JOBS just to cover RENT in Texas - NOT a mortgage...RENT?!?!?!?

A number of questions come to mind, but the first one: Is Home Ownership the right financial decision for EVERYONE?

If someone is not able to get a job (OR FIVE!) that pays the rent, are they ever going to be able to get a mortgage? And if they somehow are able to, will they be able to plan/pay for maintenance and repairs? Cover their property tax bill (assuming not escrowed)? Insurance? This is not sustainable, IMO.

Under the NAR settlement, Buyers are supposed to pay for their own Agent's commission. So why do I get calls asking "What is your seller offering for compensation?" Seems logical to make the offer with the commission baked-in (2-3% less) to create less awkwardness. Thoughts?
