Some people want to pay things off before the start the process of getting pre-approved for a home. If its something thats on your credit report, then great. It can also help with Debt to Income Ratio, if its too high.... What lenders are also looking at is credit score, credit report, and savings. If those things are not in order, a Realtor can help guide you. Thats why consultation 3 to 9 months ahead of time is crucial for some people.
