Good news to share! The federal government has completed its review and is in the process of approving and issuing the permit for the Commercial Fishing Homeport at Ancich Waterfront Park.
After federal permitting delays paused construction last summer, the city worked closely with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and NOAA to secure a required biological opinion. That step clears the way for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to finalize the federal permit.
What’s next? The city anticipates awarding a construction contract this spring, with pre-fabrication work starting this summer and on-site construction wrapping up by the end of 2026.
This project supports Gig Harbor’s working waterfront and maritime heritage, and we’re excited to see it moving forward.
