Pack your patience friends 💕 this is definitely needed and I’m so grateful for the heads up.
Get ready. Parts of 38th Avenue will soon be under construction for the next two years. We are very sorry, in advance, for the disruption this will cause. But we need to start talking about it so you can get prepared. So here we go!
Why is 38th Avenue under construction? Here’s what to know about traffic impacts:

We’ve been studying what our friends over at WSDOT do in situations like this…and it looks like there is never a “good” way to get through a major capital improvement project except, well, by just going through it one step at a time.
And, just another heads up, we can’t respond to all the comments on social, but we ARE making efforts to better communicate what’s going on. Baby steps. And eventually, this new roadway, sidewalk, and sewer line are going to be AMAZING! (that’s the goal)
We will use throughout this project. Thank you, in advance, for your patience and understanding.

A green dashed detour route runs from the north side of the construction zone west on Hunt Street, turns northeast on Wollochet Drive across SR-16 to Kimball Drive, goes south on Kimball and turns east where Hunt street picks up again on the east side of SR-16, goes east and turns south on Soundview Drive and follows Soundview around back over SR-16 and continues on Olympic Drive to where is connects with 56th Street, and continues west to the south end of the construction zone.]
