Hello Everyone! THOCSW’s Appraiser certification/Associates Degee Scholarship is Live for the Fall semester at Mesa Community College. It is only open to tribal members who will be working in NM or AZ. You do need to register with Mesa Community College before you can see the application. We are going to run this scholarship until the fudning runs out. So please if you are interested I would encourage you to apply! Scholarship opportunity! We are offering an accredited Residential Real Estate Appraiser Certification / Associates Degree through Mesa Community College. This scholarship will cover the Tuition for this program. This is a competitive application process. You must register as a student(free) with MCC prior to being allowed to apply for the scholarship. It is Open to Tribal members residing in New Mexico and Arizona and must commit to working within Tribal communities in the state you become certified in. The appraiser certification is a State certification and although you can use it to work anywhere in the state you must commit to doing a portion of your appraisal work within Indian country. Once you have completed the program we can help you get your license listed with many of the lenders and Tribal Housing authorities to help support you. Link to the scholarship application below:

Now Open to All Tribes
of New Mexico

Laguna Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF) program provides financial assistance to income-eligible households experiencing financial hardship associated with the COVID-19 health crisis. If your income was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and you are having difficulties paying on or behind on your mortgage or home loan, or in forbearance, you may qualify for assistance. Any enrolled member of a Tribe in the state of New Mexico who is paying a mortgage, a home loan, or taxes on your primary residence and meets US Department of Treasury qualifications may apply. Not only does his funding help with mortgages or home loans, but it can also help with home costs that were impacted during the COVID-19 pandemic.

What can it help pay for?
Past due payments, including payments in forbearance.
Property taxes
Homeowner fees and dues
Mortgage Reinstatement
Utility costs
Approved minor home repairs

NAVAJO HOMEOWNERS - The Navajo Tribe is approving Housing Assistance Funds for Navajo Homeowners in the Valley (technically urban areas in both Arizona and New Mexico). This will be funding available to Navajo homeowners in the form of Forgiveable loans and Grants. They will have more information at the signing in Phoenix on Monday. The program information and signup will also happen at the event. This is a free event. Please Check flyer for details. Feel free to share. Again this is for Navajo Homeowners, meaning you must currently have a mortgage on your home.

You don't want to miss this event! We provide a lot of meat and potatoes information on Home Buying, qualifications, credit and Market outlook. We always get such a great turnout at this event and We only run it twice a year. Its a great starting point for first time home buyers. Its free to attend, but it is first come first serve seating. Housing affordability is on its way out the door in 2022. Rents are at an all time high and expected to continue to increase in the coming year. Mortgage rates are relatively low but expected to increase over the next year. Housing Supply is still fairly low which is going to keep demand and competition high. Home prices are expected to climb over the next year by at least 7%. We are in one of the worst affordability markets in the US, and its only expected to get worse. If you were sitting on the bench waiting for the market to drop to buy a house you might be missing the boat completely. For years we've all been watching the market, and saying that we are eventually going to hit California pricing, well, Its nearly here. You can still buy a home for less than you are renting in MOST areas but that is going to change this year. If you've been sitting on the fence you might want to think about buying now. We might only be going up from here.

Affordability has dropped to the lowest level since 2008 nationwide, amid rising interest rates and home prices.
