Today we celebrate Juneteenth, a day that commemorates freedom, resilience, and the enduring pursuit of equality for all.
On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, enslaved people in Galveston, Texas finally learned they were free. Juneteenth stands as a reminder that freedom is precious, progress requires perseverance, and every person deserves dignity, opportunity, and respect.
As we reflect on our nation’s history, may we continue to learn from the past, celebrate the strength of those who came before us, and work toward building stronger, more connected communities.
