✨ VULNERABLE POST! 2024 reflections — ✨
2024 was NOT my year! Typically I would be celebrating the business wins, client success stories, and family wins. While there were wins in all of those categories, 2024 was more a year of lessons and gratitude.
#1 Jan of 2024, my daughter had a massive spinal surgery to prevent future issues from a 68 degree scoliosis curve. 2 Rods and 17 screws and a 10" incision! To say I was not prepared for the level of care she would need (from Me) 24/7 for 2 months is an understatement! To see her go through that was one of the most heart-wrenching and exhausting things I have experienced as a Mother.
Yet, I am grateful. Grateful for the ability to care for her, the support from friends and family, grateful for the previous year's unprecedented business success that provide me the privilege to pause and take care of my family without having to stress about finances.
#2 My Emergency Surgery! One week after my daughter went back to school I ended up in the hospital with appendicitis and spent 4 days there after surgery, and a subsequent 3 weeks at home recovering.
Yet, I am grateful. Grateful for modern medical facilities just a few miles away and the doctors and nurses who cared for me. I am grateful for the wake-up call this gave me to take self-care and my health more seriously. I have since lost 15 lbs (with more to go) and made dramatic habit/lifestyle changes.
#3 Business sucked! With Q1 out the window because of the above, momentum was lost. In sales, momentum is curcial and in real estate, we work on a 60-90-day sales cycle. Meaning, when a client hires a realtor, its typically 60-90 days before we get paid for our work. As I got back in the groove Q2 was decent and I closed 4 amazing clients. Q3/Q4 brought a slow down in the market in general and a lot of consumer and industry confusion and changes from the NAR lawsuit settlement. More on that another time.
Yet, I am grateful. Grateful for the new clients I met and helped. Grateful for the closeout of Tivoli, a 4 year project representing a small local builder to sell 11 new builds. Grateful, that with new rules in our industry Buyer/Broker....(cont in comments)
