The cabin is two story and sleeps 4 comfortably. There is eighty acres to explore and an eight acre pond to fish. Appropriately named, this is where I go when I need get a break from taxes, employees, and the news. Fishing in the morning and fires by the fire pit at night. Between five and seven at night I watch for the Mama dear and her two fawns crossing the clearing in front of the 8 acre pond.
The pond is loaded with Florida big mouth bass and catfish. I keep most of the natural Texas grass high so my road runners and bobwhite quail can stay safe. I take old hwy 80 from Heath to get here to avoid the stress of hwy 20. The two hour drive is relaxing and I love to stop in the fruit and veggie store in Edgewood. I get what I need from the grocery store in Gilmer and never leave the place until it’s time to go home. I need and enjoy it so much that I wanted to share. About the cabin
I built a fifteen hundred square foot two story cabin and finished it out to accommodate four people comfortably. The cabin is right on the pond and can’t be seen from the big log cabin. Coffee on the porch with view of the pond is a great way to start your day. During the 2020 pandemic this was my project. It’s a labor of love that I am proud of. About the property
The property is gated and secluded. When you come to the “y” in the driveway after you enter the gate say “Hi” to Eddy the bear. He and much of the artwork on the property was handcrafted from an artist in Wills Point. Stay to the right. The cabin will be on the right. There are gas wells on the property so we can’t shoot guns. But we bring BB guns and do target practice. You can bring your four wheeler or golf cart to get around on the property easier. If your goal is to forget about the world you found your happy place.
