Remember Dewey's burger and hog dog shop in downtown Glencoe? Local restaurateur John Merlo used to operate the restaurant at 667 Vernon Ave. between 2013 and 2015, and now, Merlo is back in the same space after recently opening the newest iteration of his Italian restaurant, Merlo's. The friendly Italian restaurant operated in Highland Park for around seven years until its closure in 2019. Now, according to Merlo, the time is right to venture back into Glencoe and revive his Italian restaurant for North Shore diners.

If you visited the Highland Park location for Merlo's in years past, you can expect to find a similar menu at the new downtown Glencoe spot but without the wood-fired pizza. by Michael Mitchell
