Elder Care Facility in LVT
A meeting was held on March 28, 7 p.m. by Council Office District 7 to discuss proposed Elder Care Facility on Fenton Avenue, Lake View Terrace. Majority of immediate neighbors attended the meeting. From District 7 Council Office, Gerald Gubatan, CD-7 Chief Planning Deputy, Dan Rosales CD-& Planning and Transportation Deputy and Eric Sugay, CD-7 Field Deputy were present. Gerald Gubatan began the meeting by asking every person to introduce her/himself and tell the others her/his main concern regarding the project. Issues like, environmental, infrastructure, fire hazard, traffic and parking and most importantly non-suitability of the type of the building for the area were the main issues for the residents.
Ken Stockton the architect and Mark Dierking, planning consultant represented the owner of the project, Daniel Singh.
Mr. Stockton who has designed many elder care facilities admitted that his is the first to be built in the middle of residential area with no supermarket, pharmacy, bus station and other amenities close by. But still he insisted that this is the best for elders since they like to live in more quiet area and not on a main street. When the issue of the building being in severe Hazard in case of fire because it is close to other crowded schools and apartment building, both gentlemen were short in giving any rational answer!
The meeting ended by all information being summarized and concluded for review by Council office District seven and proposal of the next step.
